Gus founded Detar Music Studios twenty years ago and has been teaching for just as long. He's conservatory-trained — the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho — and has spent his career on both sides of the glass: studying under some of the finest classical pianists working today, and producing, engineering, and scoring records and films in the room he built. His film work has been recognized at international competitions including Cannes, and a good share of his production credits sit behind non-disclosure agreements he can't say much about. He teaches piano, guitar, drums, and bass, and runs the recording, engineering, and film-scoring side of the studio — which is how advanced students end up cutting their own tracks with him.
